What intrigues me the most? The process in which anything is created. Whether it be music, a movie, a building, I love seeing creation.
me

Been working on a scaled model of the set from Elton John’s Million Dollar Piano show at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. It’s been years since I’ve made a model of the sorts so I felt a little rusty, regardless, I’m really pleased with how it’s turned out thus far.

When I was younger, after every live performance I ever saw, particularly Cirque du Soleil shows, I always made a model of the set- lights, actors and all. I always did my research, sketching, and mock-trial models to experiment with different methods of constructing. I think it’s safe to say, that’s where my passion for architecture and design began. Spending hours on making those elaborate sets. When I went to architecture school, making the models was always my favorite part of the process.

Set designers who have truly inspired me are Stéphane Roy and Mark Fisher. And Mark Fisher coincidentally was the set designer for The Million Dollar Piano. Sometimes I feel that I owe those two designers more thanks than any architect I look up to. Because really, they were the ones who lit my spark for design.

Whenever I see a live show, I analyze the set and look at every detail. I appreciate a good set as much as the live performance on stage, sometimes more…

When we fall down, the ones that love us pick us up.
